Über Photo Scrubber
Warum Photo Scrubber existiert
Every photo carries hidden data. Not just the picture, but where it was taken, when, which camera, and often much more. That metadata is useful to you when you're organizing photos, but the moment you post or share a photo online—or before you do—that data can reveal your location, routines, and equipment to anyone who looks.
Photo Scrubber exists because stripping that data should be simple, fast, and something you can do right before you share. And it should happen on your device, nowhere else. No uploads. No tracking. No ads. No permissions. Just clean photos.
Wie es funktioniert
Photo Scrubber runs entirely in your browser. When you drop a photo:
- Your browser reads the file locally
- The tool strips the metadata (GPS, camera info, date, XMP, IPTC, thumbnails, comments)
- It keeps only what matters: the color profile and a bare rotation flag
- You download the clean photo
Nothing is uploaded. No request carries your photo. The requests you may see are a Pro license check (only when you go past the free 5 photos), an anonymous usage count to hexloomlabs.com after cleaning tracking two things: where you came from (your referrer domain or a ?ref= tag if present) and how many photos you cleaned in one batch, and Cloudflare's page-load analytics.
Was wir behalten und warum
Removed: GPS location, camera serial numbers, date and time, owner and software tags, embedded thumbnails, XMP and IPTC blocks, comments, PNG text chunks.
Kept: the embedded color profile (so colors stay accurate) and a rotation flag on JPEGs (so sideways photos stay sideways, not get re-saved and slow down).
How: we don't re-encode your photos. JPGs, PNGs and WebP get their metadata stripped by cutting out just those blocks, so the actual image data is never touched. No quality loss, no re-compression.
Compared to alternatives
There are other tools that strip EXIF. Some online, some desktop, some built into your phone. Here's what makes Photo Scrubber different:
- Nothing uploaded: your photos never leave your device. Some online tools will upload, process on their server, then delete—but in that window, your data is in someone else's hands.
- No accounts or tracking: we don't ask for an email, don't set cookies to track you, and don't log anything about your use.
- No re-encoding: we cut the metadata, not re-save the photo. No quality loss, no speed penalty from compression.
- Batch and folder drop: the free tier handles 5 photos at once. Hexloom Pro adds unlimited batches, whole-folder drop, and zip export.
Built-in tools (iPhone's Files, Android's Gallery) are convenient, but they live inside the app ecosystem and don't let you see what's being removed. We show you before and after.
Privacy, in detail
Your photos: stored on your device, never uploaded. We have no access to them.
Your Pro subscription: verified by asking hexloomlabs.com one question ("does this user have Pro?"). That request carries no photo data, no email, just a verification check. It's encrypted with the same HTTPS as your bank uses.
Site analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visitors and see which guides are most useful. No cookies, no user tracking, no personalization. Cloudflare can see that someone visited /exif/ from your country, that's all.
Logging: we log no file names, no sizes, no metadata—nothing about your photos. There is no server log, because all the work happens on your device.
No ads, no selling: we don't have ad networks running on this site and we don't sell anything about you. Revenue comes from Hexloom Pro, which you choose to buy.
