Remove EXIF & GPS data from your photos
Photos carry hidden data: where you were, when, and on which phone. Drop a photo to see exactly what it holds, then download a clean copy. Nothing is uploaded; it all happens in your browser.
Drop photos here
JPG, PNG, WebP. Free: up to 5 photos at a time. Hexloom Pro: unlimited, whole folders, zip.
Prefer it in your toolbar? Add to Chrome. Same free limits, nothing is uploaded.
Sending a Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF file too? See the author and comments inside it: Doc Scrubber
What gets removed, and what stays
- Removed: GPS location, camera make and model, serial numbers, date and time, owner and software tags, embedded thumbnail, XMP and IPTC blocks, comments, PNG text chunks.
- Kept on purpose: the colour profile, and a bare rotation flag on rotated JPEGs so the photo doesn't come out sideways.
- Pixels untouched: JPG, PNG and WebP are cleaned by cutting the metadata out of the file, not by re-saving the picture, so there is no quality loss.

Need more than 5 at a time?
Hexloom Pro is one subscription, $29 a year or $4 a month, that unlocks unlimited photos per batch, whole-folder drop and a zip download here and in every Hexloom tool. See Hexloom Pro. Cleaning up to 5 photos at a time stays free.
Nothing leaves your browser
Open your browser's Developer Tools (F12 or Cmd+Option+I), go to the Network tab, then drag a photo into Photo Scrubber. No request carries your photo. The requests you may see are a Pro license check (only when you go past the free 5 photos), an anonymous usage count to hexloomlabs.com after cleaning (tracked by the source you came from and how many photos you cleaned: just two fields, nothing about the photos themselves), and Cloudflare's page-load analytics. The photo itself never leaves your device—all the cleaning happens in your browser's memory.
FAQ
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The page reads the file in your browser and builds the clean copy there. You can switch off your connection after the page loads and it still works. The one exception is Pro: if you drop more than 5 photos, a folder, or ask for a zip, the page asks hexloomlabs.com whether you have a Pro subscription. That request carries no photo data.
Does this hide what is in the picture?
No. It removes the hidden data only. A street sign, a house number or a face is still visible in the image itself.
What about HEIC and other formats?
If your browser can open the file (Safari can open HEIC), it is re-saved as a JPEG, which drops the metadata. Otherwise convert it to JPEG first. GIF is not supported.
How do I know it worked?
After cleaning, the page reads the new file again and shows what metadata is left, so you see the result instead of taking our word for it.
