What the add-on puts in your spreadsheet

Every sheet is an ordinary sheet with ordinary formulas. Nothing is hidden, and you can edit any of it.

Free

Rates sheet

All 13 provinces and territories with their GST, HST and PST, RST or QST rates, and the date the rates file is dated.

Free

Tax calculator

Pick a province, enter an amount with or without tax, and read the price before tax, the GST or HST, the provincial tax and the total.

Return worksheet

A quarterly (3 months) or annual (12 months) sheet with 200 rows for sales and 200 for purchases, input tax credits by share, and net tax worked out by formula.

A paid plan also refreshes the rates sheet when rates change.

How it works

  1. Install the add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace. It asks only for access to the spreadsheet you open it in. Google's permission screen words this as seeing, editing, creating and deleting that spreadsheet.
  2. In a spreadsheet, open Extensions, choose Canada GST HST Tax Worksheets, then Open worksheets.
  3. Pick your province. Add the free rates sheet and calculator, or create a return worksheet for the period you are reporting.
  4. Type your sales and purchases into the yellow cells. The totals follow.

Plans

The rates sheet and the calculator are free and need no key. Return worksheets need a plan. Prices are in US dollars. Sales tax is added only where it applies to your billing address, at the rate in force there, and the total is shown before you pay. You can ask for a full refund within 14 days of your first payment; renewals are not refunded.

Rates the add-on uses

Percentages, as dated 2026-10-08. A province charges either an HST, or the 5% GST plus its own provincial tax. The add-on reads these from a rates file we host, so a rate change reaches the add-on without a new version. Always confirm a rate with the CRA or your provincial tax authority.

What it does not do

  • It does not file anything and it is not tax advice. Check every figure against your invoices and the CRA return before you file.
  • Each worksheet uses one province. Zero-rated and exempt sales carry no tax in the worksheet.
  • Input tax credits are the tax you paid multiplied by the share you set for each line. A blank share counts as 100%.
  • PST, RST and QST are shown for information only and are not part of the net tax figure, which is GST/HST only. The worksheet applies provincial tax to every taxable line, but in BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba it covers only some goods and services.
  • A return worksheet keeps the rates it was created with. A period that spans a rate change needs hand adjustment. Totals cover 200 sales rows and 200 purchase rows; to add more, copy a full row, including the formula columns, and insert the copy inside the table.
  • The Quick Method, rebates, instalments and place-of-supply rules are not covered. In Quebec, the Revenu Québec QST return and QST refunds are not covered either.

What leaves your spreadsheet

Nothing you type into a sheet is sent to us. The add-on can only view and manage the spreadsheet you open it in. The sidebar makes two kinds of request to hexloomlabs.com: it downloads the rates file, and if you have a plan it sends your licence key to confirm the plan is active. Payment is handled by Stripe, so we never see card details. The privacy policy lists everything.

Questions

Which provinces and territories are covered?

All 13: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan and Yukon.

What happens when rates change?

The add-on reads rates from a file we host. When a rate changes we update the file, and a paid plan lets you refresh the rates sheet and the calculator from the sidebar. A return worksheet you have already created keeps the rates it was created with, so a refresh never changes figures in a finished period.

What if I cancel?

Cancel any time on the plan page with your licence key. A cancelled plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Sheets you already created keep working because they are ordinary formulas. Creating new return worksheets needs an active plan.

Do you see my sales figures?

No. The add-on only reads and writes the spreadsheet you open it in, and it does not send what is in your sheets to us or anyone else.

Is this tax advice?

No. It applies published rates to the figures you enter. Check amounts with the CRA, your provincial tax authority or an accountant.
